Mark Patnode is an accomplished artist working in a wide range of media. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Purchase College and is a Fellow of the Urban Artists Initiative (UAI) Hartford, CT, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism (CCT), in partnership with the Institute for Community Research (ICR). Juried into the CCT Teaching Artist Directory, a reflection of excellence in both teaching and artistry, Mark conducts residencies through Arts in Education HOT Schools. Mark has had the pleasure of numerous residencies at Magnet Schools and was a nominee for the Guilford Art Center’s Achievement Award – 2006 - Year of the Child Education category, and a 2006 Co-Presenter for HOT Schools Summer Institute, Best Practices in Teaching Artist residencies, and an invited panelist. Mark was the Visual Arts Drawing Instructor for the 2007 Center for Creative Youth program at Wesleyan University, Connecticut. Mark was a 2008 "Documenting Through Technology" Workshop Session presenter at the annual New England Consortium of Artist-Educator Professionals (NECAP) "Widening the Circle VII" - Making the Invisible Visible: Revealing the Essence of Learning In, Through and With the Arts, a New England-wide conference for teaching artists and their arts partners, July 14, Hilton Hartford, Connecticut. Mark served as a plenary session presenter and "Community Mural Project" workshop leader at the CCT 2008 HOT Schools Summer Institute Arts in Education Conference "Visible Learning: Arts with Intention". An internationally-accredited teacher, Mark is a member of the 2007 & 2008 USA Professional Artist Faculty for the Center for Creative Youth CulturArte, Cape Verde Visual Arts Program through the Capital Region Educational Council, Connecticut.
